My box gutters were cracked, sagged, overflowed, and otherwise did a poor job of channeling water from the roof to the ground. Moreover, the flashing on some of the chimneys leaked, making the walls in these spots wet after heavy rains. They rebuilt the gutters to get proper pitch, relined the trough with new copper, installed additional downspouts, and reflashed the chimneys. They followed all of the recommended practices for controlling water flow, for allowing for expansion, and for soldering the joints. Along the way, at my request, they even remortared areas on the chimneys, painted exposed new wood in the soffits and crown molding, retouched the exterior paint along the drip edge, and helped me with scrapping the old metal. As an added benefit, they took ‘before’ and ‘after’ photos of all of their work. They were a pleasure to work with -- they kept me informed of their progress, consulted with me when they found areas of rotten wood that needed to be replaced, and what’s more--personally answered the phone! Moreover, they were dependable and attended to detail--they were on time every day, cleaned up debris, and locked up at the end of the day. All in all, Louisville Slate & Copper did a wonderfully professional job and when it came time to pay the bill, the basic charge matched the quote and charges for requested extra work were very, very reasonable! These guys are old-time: they love copper and take pride in the craft!
